On Sunday the 14th of April at 2 pm sharp, wedding coordinator Patricia Corrigan opened the doors to the Pre Function lobby of the Landmark Hotel and officially opened The Landmark’s
Annual Wedding Showcase 2008. For onlookers passing through the lobby one might have likened the scene to that of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, only instead of children, it was the hotel’s Brides and Grooms who held the golden tickets to this exclusive event!
The lucky guests were in store for a fabulous afternoon of food and wine tasting. The Banqueting team dressed in their traditional gleaming white jackets greeted each couple with a glass of champagne and a selection of delicious appetizers. On entering the Grand Ballroom the couples could visualize the layout for their special day, the room looked resplendent with tables adorned with crisp white linen, elegant table settings were complemented by the hotel’s new unique candle centerpiece adding to the contemporary elegance of the newly refurbished room. Two fitted drop down screens displayed images from the most recent weddings that took place at the hotel.
Couples were free to move about the room viewing the tables and stopping by the food and wine tasting stations. Food and Beverage Manager, Andrew McKenna and his team guided couples through wine tasting and officially launched the fabulous new Landmark Weddingtinis. The delicious cocktails can be made to order for wedding guests by a cocktail waiter ala Tom Cruise as a drinks reception! The Food tasting was lead by Executive Chef Eunan Campbell who prepared some of the Landmark’s signature dishes for couples to sample and of course it wouldn’t be a showcase without the incredible dessert buffet by Japanese Executive Pastry Chef Masuda San.
According to Sales and Marketing Manager, Siobhan Cleary, “Traditionally wedding fairs involve a lot of stands with various wedding suppliers, this can be overwhelming for Brides and Grooms and more often than not they come away more confused and stressed! We always like to do things a little differently so our showcase is exclusive to the hotel’s Brides and Grooms have booked their weddings with us, it’s a more relaxed affair a chance for them to taste some items from our menu and mingle with the hotels wedding team.”
As well as a newly refurbished room, the hotel also launched their new lighting system which plunges the room into a variety of stunning colours providing a really romantic ambiance and another unique dimension to their banquet.
And as the afternoon drew to a close and the last of the happy couples left, Patricia Corrigan Wedding coordinator reminisced about the magical afternoon. “I am delighted with this year’s showcase, the room looked amazing and the feedback from our couples was just wonderful, I was so proud to show them our new ballroom and I am so looking forward to seeing each and every couple on their big day.” |

It is an opportunity for couples to experience the ambiance of the venue before their wedding day. According to the hotel's Wedding Specialist Fiona Doolan, "More often than not, the first time a Bride and Groom see the room set up for a wedding is on the day itself, our showcase gives them an advance preview so to speak and opportunity to visualise how the venue will look and feel on their day!"

Distinct from other wedding fairs the happy couples can wander around in comfort viewing a variety of table décor options, tasting and selecting their wine and sampling delicious wedding cakes that can be made to order from the hotel for their wedding. It is also an opportune time to meet with the Fiona and other members of the hotel's wedding team. Each couple was presented with a special gift bag containing a planning guide in the run up to the big day. Included amongst the many goodies was a Landmark Favour Box containing 2 chocolate truffles made by the hotel's Executive Pastry Chef!
According to Siobhan O'Reilly Marketing Manager, The Landmark Hotel, "We could have gone down the route of the typical wedding fair which is more sales focused and open to the general public. However at The Landmark Hotel we like to do things a little differently so our showcase is more of a relaxed affair, a celebration and opportunity for our couples to meet with our team and for them to experience some of the quality and points of difference of our venue." |

Optimus Best Practice is a programme developed by Failte Ireland to support tourism businesses in becoming more profitable, more efficient and more competitive.
